Giorgos Karagounis, the heart and soul of ‘Alipàsti’, comes from a family that has been producing salt-preserved fish and Greek appetizers since 1950. He was born and raised in Volos, the capital of Greek meze, which is famous for its bustling waterfront filled with ‘tsipouradika’ (picturesque Greek tapas restaurants). He joined the family business founded by Efstathios Karagounis at a young age and very soon took over production management and the critical post of creating product recipes.

      With many years of valuable know-how under his belt, in 2023 he decided to set up his own company. He called his brand ‘Alipàsti’, a play on the Greek word alipasta [meaning salt-preserved fish] and the Italian word antipasti [meaning appetizers].

   Throughout the years, he has built long-lasting collaborations with fishermen from Greece and abroad, and has fully mastered his trade. Under the brand name ‘Alipàsti’, he has created a series of clean label products, free of any preservatives, solely using pure and natural ingredients, which is just what it takes for a tasty Greek meze.

      Seafood, small and bigger fish, sliced or whole, smoked or marinated, plain or spicy, ‘Alipàsti’’ is the very definition of delicious Greek meze.
